China Unveils New AI Tech to Prosecute People

(NewsBroadcast.com) – In this ever-advancing world, it is only a matter of time until artificial intelligence (AI) makes its way into almost every aspect of people’s lives. In China, the use of AI is more prevalent than in many other countries as the communist government uses it to crack down on crime and dissent among its population by using a new computer-based prosecutor.

New reports show that prosecutors in China have begun using a machine to charge citizens with various crimes. Chinese officials boast a 97% accuracy rate for the system. The new program analyzes evidence, arrest conditions, and the suspects’ potential future threat as it calculates a charge against someone. Shanghai Pudong People’s Procuratorate, China’s largest prosecution office, hopes to use the program to cut down on the daily workload of many lawyers, allowing them to give their time to more complex cases.

Jack Posobiec, senior editor of Human Events, shared more on this new development:

As of now, the AI prosecutors can only charge people with one of eight crimes, including “provoking trouble”, dangerous driving, and credit card fraud. However, Chinese firms hope to expand the abilities of the AI prosecutors, allowing them to bring more and more cases to court in the years to come. While they don’t have control over sentencing quite yet, it may be only a matter of time.
