Discount Given on the World’s Tallest Condo

(NewsBroadcast.com) – For some, living in the penthouse of a New York City skyrise sounds like a dream, and one couple’s dream just came true. As it turned out, a unit at the top of Central Park Tower sold for $10.17 million under the asking price.

As one might guess from its name, the tower overlooks Central Park, an enormous and famous green space in the center of Manhattan. Cindy K. Chan and Hung P. Wong just purchased a 4-bedroom unit on the tower’s 93rd floor for a mere $28.58 million, over a 25% discount off the original $38.75 asking price. New Yorkers know the 1,550-foot tower for its occupant’s extravagant lifestyle and the $6,336 a month in maintenance fees.

The New York Post shared about the sale on Twitter:

The buyers likely got such a steep discount on their Billionaire’s Row property due to stricter federal laws against money laundering and recent reports of nearby condos coming under fire for potentially faulty and dangerous construction. However, for some with deep pockets, these properties are well worth the investment should they deem the units liveable.

The Central Park Tower is home to a private dining room run by famous chefs like Laurent Tourondel and Alfred Portale and a myriad of amenities, including a children’s playground, screening room, and outdoor cabana-side pool. Too bad not all Americans get to enjoy this lavish lifestyle at least once in their lifetime.
