Drug Buys To Be Given Emergency LOOPHOLE in D.C.!
(NewsBroadcast.com) – Marijuana contains delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the mind-altering substance that gives one the associated “high” that so many seek. On a federal level, it is still considered illegal and classified as a Schedule I drug similar to heroin, LSD, and ecstasy. However, it has a long history of being approved in individual states for medical and, more recently, recreational use. Washington DC, however, is a special case because it is governed by Congress.
In the nation’s capital, recreational use of the drug is permitted but the sale is restricted to legal dispensaries and only for medical purposes. The Council of the District of Columbia, which does not have a single Republican among its 13 members, and the mayor just passed a law that will allow anyone age 21 or older (lowering the current 65-year age limit) to “self-certify” that they have a legitimate health reason for obtaining marijuana, eliminating the requirement for a doctor’s approval.

The official reason for the new rule is to protect the dispensaries from a so-called “gray market,” where stores “gift” pot to customers with the purchase of another product and undersell legit outlets. DC seems to be one of the, if not the only, jurisdictions in the nation to pass such a law.
